Baixada de Carretons de Sant Bartomeu
Home-built go-karts are rolling back into Capdepera. The Baixada de Carretons returns to the streets of the old town for the Festes de Sant Bartomeu — the seaside town's patron-saint celebrations that fill Capdepera and Cala Ratjada with life for ten days each August. On the evening of Monday 24 August, from 19:00, home-built carretons take on a downhill run through the town's streets, cheered on by a crowd that lines the route. It is one of the more anarchic, gloriously local moments of the festes, run this year in collaboration with the Carretoners de Mallorca. Want to take part? The entry rules and registration ("bases i inscripcions") are on the Comissió de Festes de Capdepera's Instagram bio link.
The homemade carretons race down the cobbled streets of the old town — the most anticipated moment of the Festes de Sant Bartomeu.
