Batalla Aquàtica dels Gegants
The giants Jai and el Moro are up to their old tricks — and this time they've decided to settle it with a water battle. On Thursday 16 July, Carrer dels Horts in Santa Maria del Camí turns into a soaking-wet battleground as the two capgrossos (big-heads) face off, with the town's 10-to-12-year-olds picking a side and diving into the fray. Choose your champion and wear his colours: bring a Jai or a Moro scarf (mocador). No scarf? The colla will have them on sale, so nobody has to sit it out. The skirmish spills straight into the Tramponada — the giants' dance that officially fires the starting gun on the Festes de Santa Margalida, Santa Maria del Camí's patron-saint summer festival. It's the loud, wet, joyful curtain-raiser to the town's biggest week of the year. Where & when: Carrer dels Horts, Santa Maria del Camí · Thursday 16 July, 18:00
