Every summer the Ajuntament de Calvià takes reading out of the library and down to the water. The Biblioplatja parks a mobile library — a "Biblioroulotte" designed by students at IES Bendinat — on the Caleta de Portals Nous, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:30 throughout July and August, lending books and issuing library cards right on the sand. The Bibliopiscina sets up a mini-library inside the Es Capdellà municipal pool, Mondays and Thursdays from 16:00 to 20:00, so swimmers can read between dips. For younger children, the beach library adds sessions of children's animation — traditional games and storytelling run by the Esment programme — on 2, 9, 14 and 23 July from 10:00. Everything is free: a service of Calvià's IMEB (municipal institute of education and libraries) to keep the reading habit alive over the holidays. The shape of it

A library on the sand

A mobile 'Biblioroulotte' — designed by IES Bendinat students — sets up at the Caleta de Portals Nous every weekday morning with books to borrow right by the water.

Reading by the pool

A mini-library is set up inside the Es Capdellà municipal pool so swimmers can read during their rest moments, Mondays and Thursdays through the summer.

Storytelling for kids

On four July mornings, the beach library adds children's animation — traditional games and storytelling sessions run by the Esment programme — from 10:00.
