Concurs de Truita de Patates
Sa Pobla's home cooks turn Plaça Major into an open-air kitchen for one night a year: the Concurs de Truita de Patates, the potato-omelette cook-off that has become the signature food night of the Festes de Santa Margalida i Sant Jaume. Entries are judged across three divisions — traditional, creative and children's — while a DJ keeps the square moving between rounds. It's the most food-forward evening inside a two-week town festival (16–28 July) built around Sa Pobla's identity as Mallorca's potato-growing capital. Turning up to watch and taste is free; entering the cook-off itself needs registering in advance. Good to know: sign-ups close the day before the contest, via the town hall's website — after that it's spectator-only.
