Traditional Mallorcan dance documented since the 16th century
Performance of the Cossiers Dance, one of the oldest preserved dances in Mallorca, documented since the 16th century. Seven dancers (six Cossiers and the Lady, played by a man) accompanied by the figure of the Devil perform four traditional dances: The Procession, The Offering, The Chain, and The Gentle Lady. The dancers wear colorful costumes (red, pink, and sky blue) adorned with ribbons, bows, bells, and cardboard hats decorated with mirrors and flowers. The Lady leads the performance, which ends with the defeat of the Devil. The dance was revived in Alaró in 1992 after decades of neglect.
