The 'Marxa des Güell a Lluc a peu' is Mallorca's great night pilgrimage on foot. Every first Saturday of August, thousands set off from Plaça Güell in Palma as night falls and walk north through the Serra de Tramuntana to the Santuari de Lluc in Escorca, arriving at dawn. It is one of the island's most cherished popular traditions, with over 50 editions behind it. Thousands set off from Plaça Güell in Palma at 23:00, doors opening from 21:00, for the long walk north into the night.

The route runs roughly 43 km with 700 m of climb, threading through Marratxí, Santa María del Camí, Consell, Binissalem, Lloseta, Inca and Selva before the final climb into the Serra de Tramuntana.
Dawn at the sanctuary
Walkers reach the Santuari de Lluc in Escorca at first light after 7 to 11 and a half hours on the road, depending on pace.
A Mallorcan tradition
Held every first Saturday of August for over 50 years, the mass night pilgrimage is one of the island's best-loved communal events.

Before you go
Registration is free but mandatory — sign up online until 22:00 on 1 August, or in person at Plaça Güell (18:00–22:00) or Plaça de España in Palma (9–31 July).
Wear flexible thick-soled sports shoes and light breathable clothing; pack spare socks, plasters, snacks and a torch or headlamp.
Bring a refillable water bottle and your ID, and stay on the marked route between the organisation's opening and closing vehicles.
