Festa des Sequer (Fira de la Figa)
For one late-summer day, the small Pla village of Lloret de Vistalegre turns its streets over to the fig. The Festa des Sequer — named after the sequers, the open-air terraces where figs were traditionally spread out to dry — is a rural fig-harvest fair that has run for more than forty editions, filling the town with stalls of fresh and dried figs, fig jam, fig ice cream, fig liqueur and charcuterie and dishes that work the fruit into every course. Alongside the market there's a fig-themed ruta de tapes through the village bars, an exhibition of local fig varieties, ball de bot folk dancing, xeremiers (Mallorcan pipers), live music and activities for children. It's an unhurried, deeply local day out — the kind of village festa where the whole town takes part.
Wander through Lloret de Vistalegre among open sequers, dried figs, cured meats and homemade sweets; there's music and village-festival atmosphere well into the afternoon.
