Festes de Sant Cristòfol, s'Arenal

Every July, the seaside neighbourhood of s'Arenal throws its Festes de Sant Cristòfol — the big summer street festival of Llucmajor's coastal barrio. It's built for everyone, with a programme spanning children, young people, families and the elderly, and every activity is free, so families can simply turn up and follow the noise. The headline night of the 2026 edition falls on 11 July, when s'Arenal's Plaça Major hosts the nit gran with top-billed live music. Around it run the festa's well-loved traditions: the opening pregó at Parc Joan Ferre, the duck release (suelta de patos) at Es Caló de Sant Antoni, the foam parties the kids wait all year for, and cenas populares — long neighbourhood dinners out in the streets. The whole thing goes out with a bang: fireworks over Avinguda Miramar and an aiguafocs water-and-fire spectacle on the seafront. The Ajuntament de Llucmajor publishes the full day-by-day programme with times in the weeks before the festa.

WHAT HAPPENS

The shape of it

Big night on the Plaça Major
The festa's headline night lands on 11 July on s'Arenal's Plaça Major, with top-billing live music the town saves for its 'nit gran'.
Fireworks and aiguafocs
The festival traditionally closes with fireworks over Avinguda Miramar and an aiguafocs water-and-fire spectacle on the seafront.
Foam parties for the kids
Classic Balearic festes de l'espuma turn the streets into a sea of foam — a summer soaking the little ones look forward to all year.
Duck release at Es Caló
One of the festa's most-loved traditions: the suelta de patos at Es Caló de Sant Antoni, a splashy scramble on the water.
Popular neighbourhood dinners
Cenas populares organised with the neighbourhood associations bring long shared tables out into the streets of s'Arenal.
