Festes del Rei En Jaume — El Desembarco
The Festes del Rei En Jaume are Santa Ponça's grand fiesta and the most representative event of the whole Calvià municipality. For about ten days around the early-September landing anniversary, the town commemorates King Jaume I's 1229 arrival with a medieval market, correfocs, giants, pasacalles and concerts — all building to the centrepiece: the desembarcament, a full re-enactment of the landing and the Moors-vs-Christians battle staged across Platja de Santa Ponça. In 2026 the fiesta runs 28 August – 8 September, with the opening speech (pregó) on Thursday 27 August beneath the Creu de Santa Ponça. Around 1,400 costumed members of eleven Moorish and eleven Christian companies carry the traditional acts, the big-Saturday landing and battle re-enactment takes over the beaches, and a fireworks display over the bay closes the festes on the final Sunday.
