Fiestas Populares de Galatzó 2026
From 14 to 18 August, the Galatzó urbanisation throws its fiestas populares — five days of music, tradition and neighbourhood life staged by the AA.VV. Es Puig d'es Galatzó residents' association with the Ajuntament de Calvià. It's a genuinely local festa: the neighbours run it, the whole community turns out, and the programme is built as much for kids and grandparents as for anyone chasing a good verbena. Friday opens with the pregón and chupinazo in Plaça Francisca Revert, followed by a batucada, a children's correfoc and the big opening dance with Orquesta 'Galatzó'. Saturday mixes the solemn and the festive — a sung mass and floral offering, xeremiers (Mallorcan bagpipers) and a vermut popular, bouncy castles for the little ones, and after dark a concert from 'Quinta Locura'. Sunday is the busiest day: the XXXVI Cursa Popular Galatzó fun run, the Gran Paella Popular with a dessert competition, a pasacalles of giants and bigheads, and open-air cinema under the stars. The closing days lean into pure village life — workshops and games for the elders, the Sopar a la Fresca open-air dinner with 'Pitxorines', and a solidarity bingo. The Tuesday send-off runs from a local artisan market to a homage to the village elders and the Gran Castillo de Fuegos Artificiales that brings the fiesta to a close. When: 14–18 August 2026. Where: Plaça Francisca Revert, Galatzó urbanisation, Es Capdellà (Calvià). Entry: free.
