Finca Pública de Galatzó
Above the village of es Capdellà in Calvià, the Finca Pública de Galatzó is one of Mallorca's great outdoor escapes — and it costs nothing. This former manorial estate, now in public hands, spreads across the western flank of the Serra de Tramuntana, the UNESCO World Heritage range, bordering the neighbouring municipalities of Puigpunyent, Estellencs and Andratx. Trails: four signposted itineraries thread the estate — s'Esclop, Sa Vinya, Ses Planes and Ses Sínies — totalling around 35 km, from gentle family-friendly loops to a full day's mountain climb, through a rich variety of fauna and vegetation. What to visit: at the heart of the finca stand the restored Casas de Galatzó, the old farmhouse complex you can walk through, and a refuge belonging to the Consell de Mallorca network. It's a day of fresh air, history and mountain scenery a short drive from the Calvià coast.
