Sa Pobla builds spice into its cooking, and once a year it throws a party around it. The Fira sa Pobla Coenta returns to the town's Plaça Major on Saturday 12 September 2026, with coent — the local word for fiery-hot — as the guest of honour: tastings, a gastronomic showcase and the fair's notorious pepper-eating contest. The headline dare is the Mallorca hot-pepper eating championship, run over rounds of ever-hotter peppers until one brave soul is left standing to take the trophy and a direct pass to the Spanish final in Algemesí. Around it, eleven of Sa Pobla's bars and restaurants each cook a special spicy dish, a cheap communal plate of fideus de la marjal (the wetland noodles behind the town's kick) is served, and Mallorca's improvising glosadors perform, with a children's craft workshop for the little ones.
