About

Every Thursday, the inland town of Inca turns its whole centre over to the biggest weekly market on Mallorca. More than 300 stalls spill out of Plaça d'Espanya and down Carrer Major and Gran Via Colom, drawing thousands of shoppers from across the island. Inca is the historic leather capital of Mallorca, and the market is still the best place to buy it straight from the source — handmade shoes, bags, belts and jackets — alongside the usual island bounty of fruit and vegetables, cheeses, sobrassada and other cured meats, nuts, plants, ceramics and clothing. Come early (stalls run roughly 08:00 to 13:30) for the full spread and the cooler part of the morning, and stay for a coffee in one of the squares while the street musicians play.
