Every summer the Plaça de la Vila in Porreres fills up in the early evening with the Mercat d'Estiu, a night market the town council runs to bring the centre to life and back local trade. On Thursday evenings from July into September, stalls of local produce, crafts and small traders take over the square while a summer concert cycle puts live music behind them. Less touristy than the island's big markets and more of a Pla-de-Mallorca village affair, it's a simple early-evening plan: wander the stalls, pick up something local, and stay for the music in a Mallorcan square in high summer.
