About

Mallorca's most magical midsummer celebration marks the summer solstice with fire as the ancient symbol of renewal. The festivities begin in the afternoon at Parc de la Mar with hands-on workshops and traditional Mallorcan dances designed for children and families. As darkness falls, the atmosphere transforms with the spectacular correfoc at 23:00 — a thrilling fire run where dimonis (devils) and fire-breathing dragons weave through the crowds in a controlled explosion of sparks, drums, and pyrotechnics. The night reaches its climax with a pulsating batucada drum circle, one of Spain's best fireworks displays reflected in the artificial lake and the Bay of Palma, and the cherished ritual of the midnight swim, when locals and visitors alike plunge into the Mediterranean to welcome summer. The tradition also includes jumping over bonfires for purification. The early hours are genuinely family-friendly, while the later fire spectacle draws a more adventurous crowd. A powerful immersion into living Mallorcan folklore that connects modern island life with centuries of pagan and Christian tradition.
