Setmana de Música Antiga de la Colònia de Sant Pere
A week-long early-music festival held every July in Colònia de Sant Pere.
WHAT HAPPENS
The shape of it
Concerts in the village church
Most performances take place in the parish church of Colònia de Sant Pere and in Artà's parish church — intimate stone acoustics for a repertoire of pre-19th-century music.
Period instruments, historicist approach
Baroque music played on baroque instruments, medieval vocal music read from original sources — the use of original early instruments and a historicist reading of each piece is part of the festival's DNA.
A charming seaside setting
The week unfolds in Colònia de Sant Pere, one of the most charming villages on Mallorca's northeast coast, alongside talks, film screenings and workshops on early music.
