Visit Casal Solleric, Palma

On the Passeig des Born, Palma's grandest promenade, Casal Solleric is the city's municipal exhibition space for contemporary visual arts — and admission is always free. It fills an 18th-century palace, rococo shading into neoclassicism, once home to the Marquess of Solleric, so the building itself — its courtyard, its arcaded gallery — is part of the visit. The programme is deliberately restless: a continuous run of rotating temporary exhibitions of contemporary art across the palace's rooms, so there is usually something new since your last visit. It is one of central Palma's most accessible cultural stops, and it becomes a focal point every September during the Nit de l'Art, the city's night of art. Open Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–20:00, and Sundays and public holidays 11:00–14:30; closed Mondays.
