The Balearics have 12 official public holidays in 2026: eight national, four regional and two more set by each town hall. Here's the full calendar, month by month, with the long weekends that fall and the biggest Mallorca fiestas to plan the year around.
The Balearic Islands' 2026 public-holiday calendar sets 12 holidays common to the whole archipelago, published by the regional government in the BOIB. On top of these, every town hall adds two local holidays of its own, so the real number of days off depends on the municipality you're in.
General Balearic holidays 2026: 1 January (New Year) · 6 January (Epiphany) · 2 April (Maundy Thursday) · 3 April (Good Friday) · 6 April (Easter Monday) · 1 May (Labour Day) · 15 August (Assumption) · 12 October (Spain's National Day) · 8 December (Immaculate Conception) · 25 December (Christmas) · 26 December (St Stephen's). The Day of the Balearic Islands moves to Monday 2 March, as the 1st falls on a Sunday.
Two of these are distinctly Balearic: the Day of the Balearic Islands, marking the day the region's first Statute of Autonomy came into force on 1 March 1983, and Easter Monday, which much of Spain doesn't observe. The rest are national holidays that also apply across the islands.
Long weekends in 2026: 6 January falls on a Tuesday and 1 May on a Friday, while the Day of the Balearic Islands, moved to Monday 2 March, makes a long weekend. Bear in mind that on public holidays many shops, museums and markets adjust their hours —worth checking before you go.
