Mallorca concentrates most of its beach clubs on the south-west coast, between Calvià, Magaluf and Portals Nous: this is the zone of seasonal glamour, with luxury marinas, Balinese daybeds facing the water and full cocktail lists. But the scene doesn't end there. The best plans tend to start late and finish at dusk, when the DJ sets — those "sunset sessions" that have become the island's signature — fill the terraces with music while the sky turns orange over the Mediterranean.
The south-west holds the most recognisable names: Nikki Beach, in Magaluf, the international classic of beachside luxury; Cape Nao and the rooftop of the Shallow Sun Club, in the Calvià Beach area; and The Donna, in Portals Nous, for anyone after the marina vibe. Facing Palma, Anssia Gastrobeach combines cooking and sunset sessions almost at the city's edge. And if you're in the north, Sa Gavina, in Port d'Alcúdia, brings the same formula of sun, music and sunset to the island's far side.
Two tips to get it right. First, book: in high season the Balinese beds and the sunset-session tables sell out, especially Thursday to Sunday. And second, choose by what you're after — food and calm at midday, or music and atmosphere as the sun sets — because many clubs change rhythm completely between the two. Whichever you pick, the sunset over the sea is free, and it's almost always the best moment of the day.
