On the Calvià coast, about ten kilometres from Palma, Portals Nous is a residential village defined by Puerto Portals: one of Europe's most exclusive marinas, opened in 1986. Yachts, designer boutiques and haute-cuisine restaurants at the water's edge, with a Blue Flag beach next door.

The heart of Portals Nous is Puerto Portals, inaugurated on 4 July 1986 and ever since a hub of Mallorcan glamour. Its roughly 670 berths hold everything from small boats to large yachts, and its commercial area gathers restaurants, bars, fashion boutiques, jewellers and nautical firms. It's the island's shop-window of luxury, frequented by yacht owners, celebrities and the international jet set.
But it's not all strolling among yachts. Beside the marina is the Playa de Portals Nous (Platja de s'Oratori), a Blue Flag cove of golden sand and turquoise water, with its beach bar, showers and kayak and pedalo hire. From the port you can head out to sea — even by electric llaüt — and, as the sun sets, the scene shifts to its beach clubs and terraces. The village borders the exclusive Bendinat, another residential stretch of the coast.
Portals Nous's speciality is its dining scene: haute-cuisine restaurants and elegant bars overlooking the water. The marina also has its own calendar: in May it opens the sailing season with top-level regattas (the 52 Super Series), and in December it holds its Christmas market. To get here without a car, TIB lines 104 and 106 run the Calvià coastal corridor with a stop at Portals Nous; by car, it's about ten kilometres from Palma.
