A Day at Rancho Grande
On the Artà–Alcúdia road at Son Serra de Marina, Mallorca's biggest horse ranch is a long-running family day out. The mini-zoo is the heart of a visit: roaming it you'll meet Mallorcan black pigs, llamas, donkeys, ponies, ostriches, macaws, peacocks and monkeys. For more of an adventure, you can book a guided excursion on horseback or by horse-drawn carriage through the pine forest and down to the beach, with shorter pony rides for little ones. Kids get a Chiquipark with slides, a ball pool, a water slide and a giant bouncy saloon, while the big indoor-outdoor restaurant is known for its spit-roast Mallorcan suckling pig. There's plenty of parking and a proper ranch atmosphere a stone's throw from the northeast coast. Good to know: Open Tue–Fri 13:00–22:30 · Sat 9:00–22:30 · Sun 9:00–16:30 (closed Mon) · horse/carriage rides from ~€59.
