Festes de Sant Marçal (Marratxí)
Marratxí opens Mallorca's summer-festival calendar with the Festes de Sant Marçal, the municipality's patron-saint celebration around the historic sanctuary and plaça of Sant Marçal, between Sa Cabaneta and Pòrtol. From 18 to 30 June the programme fills with concerts, traditional acts, sport and family activities, with neighbours, local entities and businesses all taking part. Music week: Thursday 25 June brings Marrockxí, the festival of local rock bands, with twelve Marratxí groups on stage and special guest Ulls Secs. Friday 26 June is the Nit de Rock en Català at the Rotllo de Son Verí: Pèl de Gall opens at 23:00, headliner Alfred García takes the stage at 00:45, and DJ Marieta closes the night at 02:30. Saturday 27 June is the big verbena, with Nacha Pop, Aftersuns and DJ Gosya after a fiery correfoc. Sunday 28 June the municipal band stages Grease en Concert. For families: by day there are pool parties across the Pòrtol, Es Pla de na Tesa and Sa Cabana municipal pools, a Holifest, an aquatic kids' party, storytelling, inflatable castles, a chess tournament and a beach-volley trophy. The big day — 30 June: the traditional Plantada de Madò Bet i en Marçal, a solemn mass for the patron saint with the ball de l'Oferta, a musical vermut, El Casta's comedy show "Extranjeros in the night" and a midnight light spectacle bring the fiestas to a close.
