Platja de Santa Ponça

The Festes del Rei En Jaume are Santa Ponça's grand fiesta and the most representative event of the Calvià municipality. For about ten days around the September landing anniversary, the town commemorates King Jaume I's 1229 arrival with a medieval market, correfocs, giants, parades and concerts — building to the centrepiece: the desembarco, a full re-enactment of the landing and the Moors-vs-Christians battle staged on Platja de Santa Ponça by over 1,300 members of the town's colles. Practical: Santa Ponça, Calvià · Platja de Santa Ponça and the Creu de la Conquesta · roughly ten days around the September landing anniversary · desembarco and beach battle (in 2025 it was Saturday 6 September at 17:30, setting off from the Creu de Santa Ponça) · medieval market, Nit de Foc, correfocs and the Trobada de Gegants · free entry · exact 2026 date pending publication.

Qué esperar

The landing on the beach
The festival's centrepiece is the desembarco: over 1,300 members of the town's Moorish and Christian colles gather at the Creu de Santa Ponça and re-enact King Jaume I's 1229 landing, ending in a full-scale battle on Platja de Santa Ponça.
Medieval market
A medieval market runs along the seafront promenade for several days, filling the streets with crafts, food stalls and street animation for the whole family.
Nit de Foc & correfoc
The Nit de Foc lights up Santa Ponça with a fire-and-music spectacle, and correfocs — devils, drums and showers of sparks running through the streets — are a fixture of the fiesta.
Giants & parades
The Trobada de Gegants gathers giant figures for a parade through town, alongside the sarracen (Moorish) desfile and processions of costumed groups, cavalry and traditional bands.

The desembarco starts with the troops assembling at the Creu de Santa Ponça (Creu de la Conquesta) before the parade and the final battle down on Platja de Santa Ponça. In 2025 it fell on Saturday 6 September at 17:30.
The beach fills up fast for the battle, so arrive early to find a spot on the sand or along the promenade.
Entry to the street events, market and beach re-enactment is free; the festival spans roughly ten days around the September landing anniversary.
