Serra de Tramuntana Guided Day Hike — GR221 & the Barranc de Biniaraix
Sóller / Barranc de Biniaraix
A full day in the mountains at the heart of the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana. From Sóller you climb the Barranc de Biniaraix, an old stone path of some 2,000 steps that rises through a dramatic gorge, past centuries-old irrigation channels, into the Ofre valley. The route follows the GR221 Ruta de Pedra en Sec — the old pilgrim path toward Lluc — and at the Coll de l'Ofre rewards you with a sweep over the emerald Cúber reservoir and Puig Major, Mallorca's highest peak at 1,445 m. September is among the best months to walk the Tramuntana: warm, but past the peak of the summer heat.
