Traditional olive-oil mill with an old stone-mill museum, tastings, shop and restaurant at the foot of the Tramuntana
Sa Tafona de Caimari is a traditional olive-oil mill (almazara) at the entrance to Caimari, a village that has grown olives since time immemorial at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana. Alongside a modern mill that presses the district's olives into virgin Oli de Mallorca, it keeps the old stone tafona as a small museum — the ground-floor 'trui' grinding wheel, twin hydraulic presses and decanting vats that show how oil was made the old way. The complex works as a centre of oil culture: a shop selling its oil and a wide range of Mallorcan local and artisan products, oil tastings served with tapas and pa amb oli, and a restaurant of grilled meats, rice dishes, Mallorcan fare and homemade desserts with views over the mountains.
