A 13th-century hilltop sanctuary above Sant Joan, with panoramic views over the Pla de Mallorca

The Santuari de Nostra Senyora de la Consolació sits on a small hill about a kilometre south-east of the village of Sant Joan, reached by a long paved staircase that climbs from Carrer de Consolació. Its origins go back to the 13th century — a chapel documented here became the first parish church of Sant Joan — and the church was reshaped in campaigns between 1755–1780 and 1959–1966. Inside, a barrel-vaulted nave and a cupola-lit chancel frame a mid-16th-century image of the Mare de Déu. The terrace holds a cistern and two sundials inaugurated in 1986, and the walk up is lined with ceramic rosary panels. Around the church a shaded recreational area with tables, benches, a barbecue zone, a playground and parking makes it a favourite family picnic spot, and each summer the grounds host the MOBO Fest indie-music festival.
