About

Tucked into the wild hills of the Llevant peninsula above Artà, the Ermita de Betlem is a tiny 1805 hermitage with a sundial and a rose window, sitting at about 360 m with a huge panorama over the Bay of Alcúdia. The walk up to it is one of the east's friendliest family outings: a wide, easy gravel track suitable for children from around age five. The classic family version runs from the Betlem hamlet trailhead — roughly 6 km there and back, about 1 hour 40 minutes with stops — past the ruined Cases de Betlem and the spring-fed Font de s'Ermita, with the bay opening up below as you climb. The route forms part of the GR-222 (Artà–Lluc). Take water and sun protection — the path is open and can be hot — and time it for the late-afternoon light over the bay.
