36 FANCINE — Festival de Cine Fantástico de la Universidad de Málaga

Cine Albéniz

FANCINE, the Fantastic Film Festival of the University of Málaga, returns for its **36th edition from 11 to 17 November 2026 at the historic Cine Albéniz**, with parallel activities across other spaces in the city. This year's theme, "Programados para amar" (Programmed to Love), runs the festival's signature fantasy and horror cinema through the most universal and contradictory of human feelings — love in every form, from the romantic and familial to the obsessive, monstrous and even interplanetary. FANCINE is the only film festival held at a Spanish public university and a member of the European Fantasy Film Festivals Federation, gathering the best of fantasy, sci-fi, horror, thriller and animation across features and shorts. The 36th-edition poster is the work of Marvel and DC illustrator Natacha Bustos, staging a First Dates-style dinner between a kawaii alien and Bad Luck, the festival's maneki-neko cat mascot — who discreetly palms a small knife, a reminder that love can hide its own monsters. Tickets: sold on fancine.org and through Unientradas.
