Feria de la Virgen del Carmen de La Carihuela

La Carihuela

From 15 to 19 July 2026, the seafront fishermen's barrio of La Carihuela in Torremolinos throws its best-loved fiesta in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, patron of the sea. Five days of casetas, music, funfair rides and salt-air devotion right on the beach. The heart of it falls on 16 July, the Virgin's feast day: her image leaves the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and is carried through La Carihuela down to the shore, where fishermen embark her on a traditional jábega boat to sail along the coast. As evening falls, a *celebración de la palabra* at the Rincón del Sol gives way to the marinera prayer and the blessing of the waters. By night the Traditional Municipal and Youth casetas fill with music — the Orquesta Rompeolas plus free sets from Mayday, Capitán Vinilo, Stereo 80 and Alokados. When: 15–19 July · in the La Carihuela barrio (Plaza del Remo, the church, the paseo marítimo).
