A working asteroid-hunting observatory and planetarium where you can look through real telescopes under Costitx's dark skies.
The Observatori Astronòmic de Mallorca (OAM) is a working astronomical research centre and planetarium in the rural village of Costitx, inaugurated in 1991 as the Balearics' first astronomical observatory. Beyond its research mission — it is credited by the Minor Planet Center with thousands of asteroid discoveries plus comets, supernovae and variable stars — it opens to the public for guided tours and stargazing nights. A visit takes in a meteorite hall, a domed planetarium projection, and hands-on observation through high-definition telescopes, run in both Spanish and English by reservation.
